The Full Story

Our Journey

Our Sutton Family (Greg, Dawn, Jackson and Cason) are simply a typical family. Greg and Dawn  fell in love, bought a house, started a family, all the 'traditional' steps to take in life...... Then while pregnant with our second child, Dawn had a consistent feeling of concern and just mother's intuition that something was not quite right.

Chalking it up to hormones, Dawn and Greg welcomed Cason, their second baby and that is when life changed. Cason was born and rushed to the NICU after aspirating meconium and was then transferred to a higher acuity hospital where he was found to have multiple heart conditions, a cyst connecting his throat to his neck, and certainly the current lung issues.

Honestly, this was all ok. Cason healed well, was able to meet his amazing big brother Jackson and we went home with a list of specialists to see and begin our journey.

Fast forward 14 months and when checking on Cason before bed, Dawn found Cason sitting up with seizing and witnessed the first seizure of our epilepsy journey. Now, many medications, many doctors, 5 brain surgeries and a village full of people later we are in a great place but that time when we found him seizing until he had a true diagnosis and a true plan, was torturous and more than a year long. Thankfully, Cason is doing well and we are grateful but that is not the only piece.

There is another family member that was severely ill and doctors could not figure out what was wrong even after bone biopsies, countless tests until over a year later. Then yet ANOTHER family member was ill and the illness was chalked up to allergies..... until it wasn't.

So our journey includes many family members that have had to live in a place between symptom and support so we are passionate to give the support at the first symptom through Diagnosis Support.
